Publication Ethics
Bayan: Jurnal Studi Islam dan Humaniora is a peer-reviewed academic journal managed through Open Journal Systems (OJS). The journal is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. This publication ethics statement serves as a guideline for authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher involved in the publication process.
Duties of Authors
- Originality and Authenticity, Authors must ensure that the submitted manuscript is an original work, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration by another journal.
- Plagiarism, Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable. All manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will be rejected or retracted.
- Authorship and Contribution, Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the research. All contributors who meet these criteria should be listed as authors.
- Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest, Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest that may influence the research results or their interpretation through the OJS submission system.
- Errors in Published Works, If authors discover significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor to allow correction, clarification, or retraction of the article.
Duties of Editors
- Publication Decisions, Editors are responsible for deciding which submitted manuscripts should be published, based on the manuscript’s academic merit, relevance to the journal’s scope, and the reviewers’ evaluations.
- Fair Play and Editorial Independence, Editors must evaluate manuscripts objectively without discrimination based on authors’ personal characteristics, institutional affiliation, or ideological background.
- Confidentiality, Editors must ensure the confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and not disclose any information to anyone other than those involved in the editorial process.
- Conflicts of Interest, Editors must not use unpublished materials for personal research and should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
Duties of Reviewers
- Contribution to Editorial Decisions, Reviewers assist editors in making editorial decisions through objective, constructive, and timely peer reviews.
- Confidentiality, Manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others.
- Objectivity and Academic Rigor, Reviews should be conducted objectively and supported by clear academic arguments. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.
- Conflicts of Interest, Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors.
